This song is a benefit for David McHarg who was arrested and violated for displaying a poster. Excluding Bandcamp and Paypal fees the remaing £1.00 (aproximately) will go towards his legal fund.

On the Evenings of 13th May, 16th May and 6th of June 2017, following a complaint from a neighbour, the police visited the address of David McHarg. They demanded he take down an A4 anti-canvassing poster on display in the window of his third floor tenement flat in Glasgow. The poster in question read; ‘Fuck Off You Tory Cunts!’

Initially, due to his absence, the police asked his wife to remove the poster. She refused. David then visited the Police Station where he was questioned and asked to give his details. Invoking Article 10 of the European Convention on human rights that protects his right to freedom of expression David left the station refusing to comply with their demands or to provide them with any details.

The second visit ended in David being arrested under Section 38, Breach of the Peace and placing somebody under a state of fear and alarm (for displaying an A4 poster?) and Section 13/14 , namely, refusing to provide details as a witness to a crime (what crime?). At this point it was obvious to David that the real reason for this visit, and arrest, was to teach him a lesson for not complying with thier authority.

Approximately two weeks later the police attended his address again as the poster was still on display in the window. This time they asked if he would consider somehow altering the wording of the poster. David refused. The outcome of this visit was again arrest, but this time the attending Desk Sergeant at the station ordered a full anal cavity search be carried out (for displaying a poster?). Although he protested, stating that there was no lawful reason for this procedure, it was still carried out. He was then held in custody for 9 hrs and denied access to medication. During this time no rights or charges were read.

David has since received an apology for the strip/cavity search stating it had been carried out in error. He was also informed that the attending desk sergeant would be 'spoken to' regarding the issue. Despite this the police still passed his case to the Procurator Fiscal who made the decision to take it to court!

David’s first trial took place in January 2018 at Glasgow Sheriff Court where the case was adjourned because of lack of evidence. The police having made no attempts to collect any evidence of the poster or to even see if the poster was still on display during their visits.

At this time he is waiting to return to court in June 2018 for his second trial. If David is found guilty, he plans to seek the help of Amnesty International and to take the case to the European Court of Human Rights.
